There were so many new things happening at the time. From the music to television, it was just a great time to grow up. I mean, MTV was just beginning, cable was becoming more popular, the video games were ten times better than what we had and we had a variety of music we could listen to and teenagers had a much more laid back attitude than they do now. Not to cut teenagers down or hurt their feelings in any way, it is beyond me how any of our youth could get bored with all of the things that we have today. In a lot of ways, the teenagers of today have it so much better than what we did, but if there was a time machine that could take me back to the 80's, I would go there in a second! -- Posted by stlsweeti on 1:54 am on Feb. 1, 2002 I wish I could answer this. I'm 31, so yes, I grew up in the 80's. However, I really don't remember too much about it. I suppose I wasn't your typical teenager....I moved out of my house at young age and all I remember doing through the 80's (and 90's) was working, working and working. I do remember MTV though and I agree with the previous poster.....it was great because it was just starting out. As for as the clothes and fads, sheesh, I can't hardly remember. I think all I wore was a waitress uniform.....and I hardly think that was the fad. -- Posted by dracko on 4:12 am on Feb. 25, 2002 The thing I liked was being able to use the fact that I was a teenager to act like a teenager. People wernt as serious and you could afford to make the mistakes necasary in growing up. I feel kinda sorry for teenagers now, adults are just too serious. -- Posted by slayerrules on 1:03 pm on Mar. 30, 2002 the the thing i remember about the 80's was the sex, drugs and rock-n-roll was better |
