Thread Review for looking for a song (newest post first)

Hi
the song i'm looking for is some sort of a rock ballad.
it goes like that :

after the love has/is gone,
there`s a place in my heart
that just won`t let go

(after a while , there's a slow piece ,and then the singer
starts singing quietly and gently):

you were all i ever wanted
can life go on
after the love has/is gone

the song is probably sung by a n american rock group ,
it sounds like those long haired groups,  with a screamy voice, and in this case , it's a quiet song.

God, it was much easier saving the princess than finding this song !
